Florida International University and the Department of Earth and Environment recognized the need for a fully online program which expands their department’s international reach. We led the development of the Department’s first fully online Bachelor in Sustainability and the Environment program. The curriculum addresses the connections between people in their social, natural and built environment, so that students will be able to think holistically about sustainability issues. Key online program features include interactive technology, real-time feedback, collaborative projects, and personal learning networks. The design-build included faculty training, course platform migration, and direct connections to university support services.

Bay Path University-The American Women's College

Project Description:

Bay Path University's The American Women's College is reshaping their programs to incorporate multidisciplinary degree offerings to fit the needs of their niche markets, working professionals. They want to use adaptive learning systems to help cultivate 'smart' digital learning systems that help marshal learner performance to include pre-existing skill sets. To power the science-based courses, we utilized existing university resources to design smart systems architecture with clearly defined learning outcomes, measurable course competencies, and learner achievement goals; all based on Universal Design For Learning tenets. The back-end is a carefully woven digital fabric with strands extending across disciplines to meet professional needs. The learner sees a beautifully created digital environment composed of diverse applications, tools, content delivery, and dynamic expert instructors, are nested within digital learning ecosystems. 

MDI Biological Laboratory

Project Description:

MDI Biological Laboratory is a globally-recognized leader in biomedical research and has a vibrant science education division. The Labs expanded academic reach beckoned new educational programming including laboratory-based courses, conferences, and professional development. Our digital ecosystem design, utilizes existing and newly procured institutional resources to facilitate course delivery and empower all members of the educational community. In order to meet federal reporting guidelines and build educational institutional intelligence, the system captures key data used for robust curriculum evaluation using modern research-based methodologies.

Phillips Academy- Andover Summer

Project Description:

Phillips Academy-Andover Summer programs is a highly competitive residential summer enrichment program populated by students from around the world. We develop and teach new physics curriculum that complements their existing infrastructure. Student generated survey's indicated that space exploration and rockets to be of high interest within a physics program. We develop and teach a new, exciting module of physics associated with course curriculum. Students engage in building, launching, calculating, and filming, and showcasing, their rocketry work as part of an exciting, rigorous, and project-based learning experience. 

Wheelock College

Project Description:

Wheelock College is a forward-thinking niche institution of higher education focusing on making the world a better place through serving children and families. The College recognizes the need for integrated science and mathematics programs of study which best prepared their students for challenging careers. We developed and taught globally oriented integrated course curricula, such as Natural Disasters, that supports students dynamic programs of study. In addition, we expanded the existing learning management infrastructure to include graduate programs in science education and teacher preparation. Federal grant awards aided our production of multimedia feature curricular components.


Project Description:

BiteScis is a newly formed, grant supported non-profit helping to connect graduate science students with expert science educators to develop curriculum for secondary science classrooms. We worked with graduate students in physics to develop lesson plan curriculum on energy conservation through applied biomechanics.
